Umbrielle was formed in 2023 when Ashuni Pérez, a Texan living Valencia since 2014, picked up a guitar and began setting some of her writings and poems to music. This gave rise to a handful of songs that range from dream pop to folk and shoegaze. Over the past three years, Bernardo Díaz, Tono, and María Inglés, three familiar faces on the Valencian underground scene, have joined the band on guitar, bass, and drums, respectively.
In 2025, while still a trio, they released “Santa Monica,” a single that was later included on their first EP, Candelabra, recorded at Espurn Indret by Xavi Muñoz. The four songs on the “Candelabra” EP combine a delicacy and simplicity inspired by American folk that transport you to a distant, dreamlike world. The EP is now available to stream on any online platform.
Umbrielle’s first single, “Santa Monica,” combines the Velvet Underground’s most pop-oriented tradition, with minimalist drums and cyclical, melodic basslines and a knack for storytelling through lyrics that may bring to mind Lou Reed, Dylan, or Mazzy Star. The guitars blend perfectly with a sweet voice that has a very distinctive personality.
They are now presenting some new songs recorded at Millenia and produced by Tono Inglés. The addition of a new guitarist to the lineup has elevated the band’s initially simple sound to new heights.
Live, the band is capable of expressing the subtlety and sensitivity of their songs with an unusually powerful sound.

Umbrielle nace en 2023 cuando Ashuni Pérez, texana afincada en Valencia desde 2014, se hace con una guitarra y empieza a trasladar algunos de sus textos y poemas a la dimensión musical. De ahí surgen un puñado de canciones que oscilan entre el dream pop, el folk y el shoegaze. A lo largo de estos últimos tres años, se han ido incorporando Bernardo Díaz y Tono y María Inglés, tres viejos conocidos de la escena underground valenciana, a la guitarra, el bajo y la batería respectivamente.
En 2025, aún como trío, lanzaron Santa Monica, un single que luego se incluyó en un su primer E.P. Candelabra, grabado en Espurn Indret por Xavi Muñoz. Las cuatro canciones del EP “Candelabra”, combinan así una delicadeza y simplicidad inspiradas en el folk norteamericano que te transportan a un mundo lejano y onírico. El EP ya está disponible para escuchar en cualquier plataforma de internet.
El primer single de Umbrielle, Santa Monica, combina la tradición más pop de la Velvet Underground, de batería minimalista y bajos ciclícos y melódicos, con una capacidad de contar historias a través de sus letras que puede recordar tanto a Lou Reed como a Dylan o a Mazzy Star. Las guitarras se acoplan a la perfección a una voz dulce y con una personalidad muy peculiar.
Ahora presentan algunas nuevas canciones grabadas en Milenia y producidas por Tono Inglés. La inclusión de una nueva guitarra a la formación ha conseguido elevar la sencillez inicial de la propuesta a nuevos terrenos.
En directo, es un grupo capaz de expresar la sutileza y sensiblidad de sus canciones con una insólita rotundidad sonora.
